Alyssa A. Friedman, Esq. is a Partner and Chair of the firm’s Health Care Fraud and White Collar Criminal Defense Practice Group with Abrams Fensterman, LLP working out of the firm’s Brooklyn office.
Prior to joining Abrams Fensterman, Ms. Friedman was with Healthfirst, a non-profit health insurance company sponsored by some of the most prestigious hospitals and healthcare systems in New York where she was Assistant Vice President of the Special Investigations Unit specializing in risk mitigation and eliminating fraud, waste, and abuse. Ms. Friedman also served as a Special Assistant Attorney General, Medicaid Fraud Control Unit in the New York State Attorney General’s Office where she investigated and prosecuted complex Medicaid fraud matters, as well as, abuse and neglect cases of nursing home residents. In addition, Ms. Friedman served as an Assistant District Attorney, Investigations Division, Economic Crimes Bureau for nine years with the Bronx District Attorney’s Office where she managed and spearheaded a team of investigators, attorneys and cooperating witnesses in the development, investigation, and trial of multifaceted felony cases.
Ms. Friedman earned her Juris Doctorate from New York Law School and her undergraduate degree at Loyola University in Maryland. During law school, she served as a Judicial Intern to the Honorable James Yates, New York State Supreme Court, as well as a legal intern with the Kings County District Attorney’s Office and the Legal Aid Society, Criminal Defense Division. She also served as a Public Interest Fellow and a member of Moot Court Team and received both the Public Service Award Recipient and Best Advocate Award.
