Friends,
I’m writing to share an exciting new podcast hosted by my friend Charlie King, a longtime fixture in New York politics.
“Big Shot!” is a fantasy political podcast that pits 16 larger-than-life figures against each other in a hypothetical 2020 race for president. The candidates include some of the greatest leaders in our nation’s history, such as FDR, RFK, Abraham Lincoln, Harvey Milk, and Teddy Roosevelt.
Through discussions with political operatives, elected officials, journalists, voters, and more, the podcast gives a behind-the-scenes look at how campaigns are run and won and where American politics is going in the age of Trump.
The first episode was just released and focuses on the life and hypothetical candidacy of John F. Kennedy Jr. The son of the 35th president, many members of a certain generation saw him as someone who would fulfill his father’s legacy; however, his life was also cut short when he died in a plane crash in 1999. Charlie is joined by Steve Gillon, author of “America’s Reluctant Prince: The Life of John F. Kennedy Jr.,” Rosemarie Terenzio, author of “Fairy Tale Interrupted: A Memoir of Life, Love, and Loss” and Bryan Lanza, the former deputy communications director for the Trump 2016 Campaign.
You can listen to the podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
