Lawrence DiGiovanna was a Partner and Co-Chair of Abrams Fensterman’s Cooperative and Condominium Practice Group.
Mr. DiGiovanna joined the firm in 2016 after a distinguished 35-year career managing his own boutique practice. His expertise in cooperative and condominium law spanned over 46 years. Mr. DiGiovanna advised cooperative boards and condominium managers across a wide range of housing complexes, offering guidance on governance, transactions, and complex condominium projects.
A past president of the Brooklyn Bar Association, Mr. DiGiovanna also held numerous leadership roles in the legal community. He was a dedicated advocate for legal ethics, serving as Chair of the Grievance Committee for the Second Juducial Department, as well as the Committee on Character & Fitness. He was also an active representative for the 2nd District of the New York State Bar Association’s Real Property Law Section for over a decade.
Mr. DiGiovanna’s dedication to public service was evident through his work with the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project, where he served for more than 20 years and was recognized for his pro bono contributions. His leadership extended beyond the legal realm, as he served on the boards of Victory Memorial Hospital, Lutheran Hospital, and St. Vincent’s Services, where he played a key role in merging the organization with HeartShare Human Services.
Mr. DiGiovanna received numerous accolades throughout his career, including the Brooklyn Bar Association’s Distinguished Service Award and the prestigious St. Thomas More Award from the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Brooklyn. He was a beloved figure in the Brooklyn legal community and beyond, known for his compassionate approach and unwavering dedication to his clients and colleagues.
Mr. DiGiovanna’s legacy of service, professionalism, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His contributions to the legal field and his community will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of working with him.
