Matthew Rosenbaum

Matthew A. Rosenbaum is a Partner at Abrams Fensterman, LLP.  Since retiring from the New York State Supreme Court Bench, Mr. Rosenbaum has become one of New York’s most sought after and respected mediators and arbitrators. He has a reputation for efficiency and effectiveness and is known best for his honest evaluation of cases.

Mr. Rosenbaum’s experience with mediations and arbitrations includes his knowledge from serving as the Supervising Judge of the Civil Courts in the 7^th Judicial District, where he presided over numerous bench and jury trials.  For nearly a decade, he served as both the Commercial Judge and Medical Malpractice Judge based in Monroe County.   As the region’s first ever designated medical malpractice judge, he gained a reputation state-wide for his knowledge in this complex field, having been awarded one of the first federal fellowships in the Advanced Science & Technology Adjudication Resource (ASTAR) Program.  As the region’s third Commercial Judge, Mr. Rosenbaum took on a leadership role successfully handling complex matters and working closely with the attorneys who practiced in that field.

Mr. Rosenbaum is also a past American Arbitration Association (AAA) panelist, having decided many single panel arbitration matters.  He also works independently as an arbitrator on a variety of commercial matters.  In 2018, his colleagues displayed their appreciation for his leadership by unanimously voting him the first ever Jurist of the Year.  Attorneys and their clients say his personality, experience, style and conscientious efforts make him approachable and productive.

In addition to resolving cases, Mr. Rosenbaum’s clients rely on his advisory and counseling skills in connection with corporate, employment and business concerns, and other civil matters.  Mr. Rosenbaum has been the recipient of Martindale Hubbell’s Preeminent AV Peer review – the highest possible rating given – every year since he left the bench.
