Stacey P. Klein, Esq. is a Healthcare Partner in the Health Law Practice group at Abrams Fensterman, LLP. Ms. Klein is a well-regarded attorney, with more than 15 years’ experience focusing primarily in the areas of Healthcare, Employee Benefits/Executive Compensation and Not-for-Profit/Tax Exempt Compliance Law.
Ms. Klein assists clients in navigating a broad range of healthcare, corporate, regulatory, transactional, and employee benefits issues relevant to individual and institutional clients. With her extensive knowledge and deep understanding of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations, she effectively counsels hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, pharmacies, physician practices and other health care providers on complex compliance, regulatory, managed care, corporate governance and transactional matters, including employment arrangements. Clients rely on Ms. Klein for advice on fraud and abuse issues, including with respect to Anti-Kickback statutes, Stark laws, and the False Claims Act, as well as ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code and other laws affecting employee benefit plans and compensation arrangements. Ms. Klein skillfully manages, defends and settles audits and investigations and advises clients on self-disclosures.
In addition, Ms. Klein provides guidance to clients with respect to licensure and accreditation issues, new health care initiatives, and prepares a variety of policies, agreements and corporate governance documents.
She has experience resolving matters with numerous government agencies including the New York State Department of Health, Office of Inspector General, Office of Medicaid Inspector General, Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, Department of Justice, New York State Attorney General and New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.
Before joining Abrams Fensterman, Ms. Klein previously practiced at a large international firm and a mid-size health care boutique firm.
Recognized by her peers and clients as a talented health care attorney, Ms. Klein has received numerous awards and professional accolades. She prides herself on giving back to the community, including serving as counsel for a variety of matters on a pro bono basis. In addition, Ms. Klein’s healthcare and ERISA law articles have been published by the New York State Bar Association, the Journal of Medical Economics; Association of Healthcare Risk Management of New York, Risk Management Quarterly; and the Metropolitan Corporate Counsel.
Ms. Klein received her B.A., summa cum laude, from Barnard College and J.D. from Columbia Law School, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. She is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.
