Abrams Fensterman is proud to represent four Hispanic plaintiffs against the Town of Mount Pleasant in a groundbreaking lawsuit under New York’s John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act. This case is the first filed under the new law, which addresses voting rights concerns for minority communities in the town.

 

The lawsuit seeks to ensure fair electoral representation and uphold minorities rights to have a voice in local governance. Partnering with the Harvard Law Election Law Clinic, our Election Law Practice group is tackling crucial issues under New York’s voting rights law to ensure the Latino residents have a voice in their community. This case will set a significant precedent for future voting rights challenges in New York.

 

The Harvard Law Bulletin highlighted Abrams Fensterman’s involvement in the case as a prime example of the critical work being done at the state level to protect and expand voting rights.
