Led by Attorney Robert A. Spolzino, Abrams Fensterman has taken action on behalf of six residents, identifying significant racial disparities in the town’s election outcomes. According to Spolzino, the existing system has consistently failed to elect African American or Hispanic candidates to town office, despite these groups making up a substantial portion of the population.

 

In response to Abrams Fensterman, the Newburgh Town Board has engaged an outside firm to assess compliance with the Voting Rights Act.  Abrams Fensterman Attorney David Imamura was quoted stating, “The town must change its election system to allow everyone a seat at the table.”
